Everyone seems to be stuck on Amapiano with the genre dominating the entire airwaves. This marks another year of dominance for Piano, and Mzansi isn’t so surprised as we once were. However, a number of songs across various other genres have also put up a fight and dominated the airwaves just as much as Piano.

These songs have gained as much airplay as Amapiano hits, and have also topped charts, and trended on the internet. A lot of them are from Afro House artists, and also from SA Hip Hop artists (yes, some Hip Hop songs have majorly impacted the airwaves this year).

1. Zakes Bantwini & Kasango – Osama

Now this is how you make a comeback. Zakes Bantwini first teased “Osama” during the Kunye Live Mix and Mzansi went nuts. He has finally released it featuring Kasango, and already, the song is one of the most played songs in the country.

2. Makhadzi – Ghanama (feat. Prince Benza)

Initially, Makhadzi’s song “Ghanama” brought a lot of drama with King Monada (who previously featured on it) after it was released. After getting taken off it, “Ghanama” remained massive jam dominating the entire airwaves. It is off her “African Queen” album.

3. Big Zulu – Umuzi eSandton (feat. Lwah Ndlunkulu)

Taken from his new “Ichwane Lenyoka” album, “Umuzi eSandton” featuring Leah Ndlunkulu has continued Big Zulu’s string of hit releases. It has gained a lot airplay, and has amassed over 1.4 million views on YouTube alone.

4. Lloyiso – Dream About You

In May, Mzansi singer and songwriter, Lloyiso released the song “Dream About You” and it fast became a success. It followed his successful feature on DJ Zinhle’s latest jam “Ndlovu”. It has also earned him praise, and lots of airplay in the country.

5. Blxckie – Hold

Undoubtedly SA Hip Hop’s most sort after artist, Blxckie has dominated the airwaves with good music including this one. The joint has gained praise for it’s perfect production, lyricism and delivery. Its visualizer has over 700k views on YouTube.

6. Blaq Diamond – SummerYoMuthi

With over 13 million views and counting, Blaq Diamond basically started a party with “Summer Yo Muthi”. It dominated airwaves across Africa, and became one of their biggest releases ever. It has also amassed millions of streams across various platforms.

7. Dlala Thukzin – Phuze (feat. Zaba, Sir Trill, Mpura & Rascoe Kaos) [Remix – Radio Edit]

Back in July, Dlala Thukzin launched a new remix of his song “Phuze” into the airwaves. The remix featuring Zaba, Sir Trill, Mpura, and Rascoe Kaos fast became a massive success. It has gotten massice airplay across airwaves in Mzansi.

8. Azana – Your Love

You may as well call her the silent achiever. Azana followed the success of her feature on Sun-El’s “Uhuru” with this song “Your Love”. It wasted no time to become yet another big one for her, gaining good reception from all over the country.

9. Dladla Mshunqisi – Uphetheni Esandleni (feat. Sizwe Mdlalose, Assiye Bongzin & DJ Tira)

Gqom star, Dladla Mshunqisi left fans thrilled with the release of his hit song “Uphetheni Esandleni” about a month ago. It features contributions from Sizwe Mdlalose, Assiye Bongzin & DJ Tira, all of whom do amazing jobs on it.

10. Joyous Celebration – Ndenzel’ Uncedo Hymn 377 (Live)

Popular Mzansi Gospel choir, Joyous Celebration kicked things off this year with the “Still We Rise” Live Album. It features the successful single “Ndenzel’ Uncedo Hymn 377 (Live)” which has dominated the airwaves since being released over 5 months ago.
